About Us

THE BEGINNING - 1938

The Boxford Village Garden Club was formed in October 1938 when a group of nine young women met in the parlor of Mrs. Ruth Kelsey (daughter-in-law of Harlan P. Kelsey) to discuss the feasibility of forming a Garden Club in Boxford.  The handwritten meeting notes record, "it was so voted that such a group be organized," and thus the Boxford Village Garden Club came to exist.  â€‹The following year, the Board voted to become a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.
